Vision :

To develop competent and creative mechanical engineer who use their talent to achieve excellence.

Mission :

By providing the students sound technical knowledge through state of the art facility and keeping the student abreast with latest technology to cope up with the latest changing requirements of industries

Message from HOD

The Department provides a stimulating environment for the development and exchange of ideas, particularly in areas of Interdisciplinary research and development. Our faculties are the intellectual leaders in their respective fields of research and we offer our students the opportunity to work one-on-one with the faculty in advancing the frontiers of knowledge. The mechanical engineering program places emphasis on research, design, development and the manufacturing of mechanical

Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering of BTLIT. We, faculty of ME believe that teaching and learning is a continuous process. Hence we are providing a strong foundation in fundamental concepts and offering expertise and solving techniques ability towards the new technologies. Department is offering best quality of technical education with senior most dedicated Professors and experts from Industry and IT fields. We are providing the platform to the student community with the requisites know how far solving real time problems in meeting the requirements of the industries there by enabling them to enter the world of opportunities in the future. Components and machines for industry. That department has been recognized as research centre by VTU. Teachers can get their M.Tech by Research and also Ph.D. by research.

Program Education objectives (PEOs)

PEO1: Mechanical Engineering graduates should have a comprehensive fundamental knowledge of physical sciences, mathematics and foundations of Mechanical Engineering subjects to be able to solve application level problems related to core Mechanical Engineering and interdisciplinary areas.

PEO2:. Graduates should have a deep working knowledge of technical fundamentals and skills in the areas related to mechanical engineering design, thermal engineering, material science and manufacturing science to address the needs of the customer and society.

PEO3: Graduates should have the communication skills, professional personality and ethical values that will mould them into a good human beings, responsible citizens and competent professionals.

PEO4: Graduates should have engaged in lifelong learning and professional development through self-study, continuing education or graduate professional studies in engineering.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES:

PO1: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

PO2:  Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

PO3:  Design development of Solution: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

PO4: Conduct Investigations of Compels Problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

PO5: Moderate tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

PO6: The Engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

PO7: Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

PO8: Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.

PO9: Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.

PO10: Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.

PO11: Project Management and Finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

PO12: Life-long Learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological
