The Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) for B.E. was established in 1997 setting its foundation as a leading innovator in computer field. The Growth of CSE started with U.G program in B.E and it has now an intake of 120. M.Tech program  was established in the year of 2012 and it has now an intake of 18. Over the years the department has developed to become a center of excellence providing in-depth technical knowledge and opportunities for innovation and research.

At CSE-BTLIT, a great emphasis is laid on the emerging, interdisciplinary, cutting-edge areas of research or educational needs. The faculty members are already involved in interdisciplinary research efforts. This approach of teaching-learning, coupled with practical experience gained during Industrial Training and Practice School Project work in reputed organizations, equips the students to handle the challenges posed by the IT industry. Faculty and supportive staff are working in an exemplary team spirit to enable the Department to grow from strength to strength and hope they will continue with the same zeal in future too.

Beyond the syllabus students are exposed and trained with various values added courses by the experts from various institutions and industries to motivate them in the core domain. The Frequently organized seminars, symposia, workshops, conferences and faculty development programs focusing on the latest development in technology imbibes competency, leadership qualities ,enhancement of positive attitude and team work. The association activities have tremendously improved the personality of students in confidence building and inter personal relationship.

REPROGRAPHIC FACILITIES

The Department maintains its own reprographic facilities which include photo copying machine, cyclo style machine, LCD data projector, Scanner, Laser Printer, overhead projector. An internet facility of 20Mbps is also available for both students and staff.

DEPARTMENT LIBRARY

The Department maintains a library to meet the specific needs of its students. There are several Volumes, titles, Journals and CD’s available to students through out the academic year.

STUDENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

The Department takes special initiative for the development of all students by organizing programs and activities like Guest Lectures, Industrial Visits, In-Plant Training, Class Room Seminars, Personal Counseling, Technical Paper Presentations and Sports.

STUDENT COUNSELING

A batch of 20 students is counseled under the guidance of a faculty member who is called the Mentor. Counseling of students is done periodically. The Faculty members discuss with the students about their activities, performance in the examinations, results, etc.The Department has a unique “Computer Engineering association” which provides exclusive membership to the students of this department.

The association organizes and conducts several extra-curricular activities like: Seminars, Conferences, Technical Quizzes, Workshops, Guest Lectures, Symposiums, quarterly department newsletter, Organizing Industrial Visits and In-Plant training.

RESEARCH ACTIVITY

The R&D activities of the staff and the students have resulted in several publications both in the Indian and International Conferences as well as Journals. There are around 50 publications by the department faculty in various national and international journals and conferences.

GOING BEYOND SYLLABUS

  • The department arranges for guest lectures on recent developments in the field of computer science and Engineering.
  • Technical Quizzes and competitions are held regularly to enrich their academic competitiveness. Students are encouraged to do in house projects under the guidance of faculty and the project lab is kept open beyond the college hours.
  • Regular industrial visits are organized for the students to get acquainted with the work place environment.
  •   Tutorials are placed on the Intranet for students to prepare them before attending the classes. Tutor materials of subject are kept in the department library for benefiting students for studying beyond college hours.
  • Students are made to attend EDUSAT classes and the lectures are recorded and kept in the library for later and subsequent viewing.
  • Special classes for students who are below average are arranged after the class hours. Wherever found necessary audio visual equipment’s are used extensively so as to aid visual retention.
