The Department of Information Science & Engineering was established in the year 2000-01. It is approved by the AICTE and is affiliated to V.T.U. Belgavi. It has a sanctioned intake of 60 students. The infrastructure of the department is well designed to provide all the necessary facilities like classrooms, auditorium and laboratories. The labs include. Systems Software Lab., Network Technology Lab., Software Testing Lab. and Computational Paradigms Lab, file structure lab
A very warm welcome to the department of Information science and Engineering of BTLIT. We, faculty of ISE believe that teaching and learning is a continuous process. Hence we are providing a strong foundation in fundamental concepts and offering expertise and solving techniques ability towards the new technologies. ISE, BTLIT is offering best quality of technical education with senior most dedicated Professors and Industry experts in IT fields.
We are providing the platform to the student community with the requisites know how far solving real time problems there by enabling them to enter the world of opportunities in the future.
The Department maintains its own reprographic facilities which include LCD PROJECTOR (Sharp Note vision XR-32x), HP SCANNER, HP LASER PRINTER, OVER HEAD PROJECTOR. An internet facility of 2Mbps is also available for both students and staff.

As per University norms, department has different laboratories, viz.. and Research Lab. Systems Software Lab., Network Lab., Software Testing Lab. and File structure lab ,ADA lab, Web lab UPS and special furniture for computer users. Each lab has been designed to accommodate 30 students per session and has been equipped with the state of the art computer systems, consisting of a total of about 90 HP Intel I5 Processor Computers, with all necessary peripheral
BTLIT has Intranet facility, based on a 20 MBPS fibre optic cable backbone has been installed, to which about 90 of our computers are connected. Several of these terminals are also provided with access to the Internet, for the benefit of both the staff and students of the Department of Information Science & Engineering. There is also a campus wide Wi-Fi facility available. Moreover, the Computer Centre also serves as a central facility at the College with about 90 Intel i5 Processors and Zeon based servers, thus providing a valuable set of infrastructure facilities for instruction and project work for the entire students of the College. The department has seminar hall with sophisticated projection system for project demos.

The Department maintains a library to meet the specific needs of its students. The total number of volumes and titles maintained is 100each. The Department Library also keeps a record of all the project reports submitted by final year students in the reference section.
STUDENT & FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
The Department takes special initiative for the development of all students by organizing programs and activities like Guest Lectures, Industrial Visits, In-Plant Training, Class Room Seminars, Counseling, Technical Paper Presentations and Sports.
A batch of 20 students is counseled under the guidance of a faculty member. Counseling of students is done periodically. The Faculty members discuss with the students about their activities, performance in the examinations, results, etc.
The R&D activities of the staff and the students have resulted in several publications both in the Indian and International Conferences as well as Journals. There are around 20 publications by the department faculty in various national and international journals and conferences.
GOING BEYOND SYLLABUS
- The department of ISE arranges for guest lectures on recent Trends in the Area of IT.
- Technical Quizzes and various competitions are been held regularly to enrich their academic competency. Students are encouraged to do in house projects under the guidance of faculty and the project lab is kept open beyond the college hours.
- Regular industrial visits are planned for the students to get benefited with the work place force.
- Tutorials are placed on the Intranet for students to prepare them before attending the classes. Tutor materials of subject are kept in the department library for benefiting students for studying beyond college hours.
- Students are made to attend EDUSAT classes and the lectures are recorded and kept in the library for later and subsequent viewing.
- Special classes are arranged for students who are below average after the regular class work hours. Whenever it necessary audio visual equipment’s are used extensively so as to aid visual retention.
